Fierce. Fast. Fun.
New Mills Squash Court is based inside the MyActive Leisure Centre, right in the heart of New Mills. The court has been part of the community since 1981, originally built with the help of local fundraising and the passion of players who wanted a home for squash in the town.
Hosted by the leisure centre, New Mills Squash Club brings together players of all ages and abilities who share that same love of the game. We organise team squash in regional leagues, support a growing junior programme, and run a popular box league for regular competitive play.
Whether you’re a complete beginner, a returning player, or already hooked on the sport, there’s a place for you here. Come and play, meet new people, and be part of the next chapter of squash in New Mills.
If you just want to have a knockabout with a friend, you can easily book a court through the council’s MyActive website:
Courts are available to all, and you can book and pay online — simple, flexible, and open to everyone.

Squash is fantastic for fitness, coordination, and fun — and it’s a great way for kids to make friends and stay active.
We run weekly junior sessions on Wednesdays and Saturdays, led by qualified Level 1 and Level 2 coaches.
Sessions cost £6 each, are pay-as-you-go, and are payable directly to the club.
All abilities are welcome — just come along and give it a go!

We have a friendly and welcoming women’s squash group with around 20 members who chat and arrange games through a WhatsApp group. We meet regularly for relaxed social sessions at the court — it’s light-hearted, supportive, and great fun.
Whether you’ve never picked up a racket or you’ve played for years, we’d love to have you join us.

Our Box Leagues are one of the best ways to play regularly, improve your game, and meet other players at your level.
Players are grouped into small “boxes” of 3–5 people, and you have six weeks to play each of your matches.
The leagues refresh every six weeks, keeping things fresh and competitive.
Our box leagues are part of a friendly inter-club network involving Glossop, Disley, Marple, and New Mills — with hundreds of matches played every year across all levels of ability.
👉 To find out more about joining the box leagues, contact Matt on 07731 434420.
Every Thursday evening, our club fields two teams competing in Divisions Three and Four of the Northwest Counties Squash league.
It’s open to both men and women, offering a fantastic mix of competitive play and social spirit. New Mills has enjoyed plenty of success over the past 40 years!
We also have a women’s team that competes on Monday nights from October to March.

If you’re looking to improve your technique or just want some one-on-one attention to boost your game, Matt — a Level 2 qualified coach — offers individual coaching sessions.
These are open to all ages and abilities, from beginners learning the basics to players looking to fine-tune their competitive edge.
👉 To arrange a coaching session, contact Matt on 07731 434420.
Squash 57 – A.K.A. ‘Racketball’ is a slightly slower paced version of squash, often played by those who have retired from squash or tennis.
A larger ball and a slightly shorter racket gives a different experience than squash, without compromising on any of the fun!
You can borrow equipment at the leisure centre for free. John Harvey also has a group of keen payers ready to have a knockabout if you’re short of a partner.
